    Solanum nigrum L.

  • Collector(s)

    M. H. Nee 45551, 15 Sep 1994

  • Location

Australia. South Australia. Adelaide Botanical Garden.

  • Habitat

This seems to be the common representative of sect. Solanum as a weed in the city now.

  • Description

Erect herb, weed in flower beds, 1 m. tall. Corolla white. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fertile.

  • Notes (shown on label)

I cannot exactly match it with any New World species I know, but it may easily be the same as S. nigrescens Martens & Gal. of Mexico and Central America. It is certainly not the same as the "S. nigrum" growing in the Bronx, New York, U.S.A.
