    Forest with many epiphytes (Bromeliaceae), trailing bamboos, and bambusoid grasses. Abundant.

    Bamboo, the solid culms widely spaced, not forming clumps but arising separately, vinelike, reaching 5 m into the trees and hanging from them in festoons. Central bud at node dormant except when high up on culm where it forms a dominant branch. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
