Agoseris aurantiaca var. purpurea (A.Gray) Cronquist det G. I. Baird, 1997
Note: Annotation by G. I. Baird, 1997: Prolonged phyllaries are sporadically found throughout the species but this specimen represents an extreme development of this character. This taxon is placed with Agoseruis aurantiaca var. purpurea based on the shape and pubescence of the involucral bracts, yellow florets and achenial chracters. I do not interpret this taxon as being part of Agoseris X montana, although it may be inetrmediate with var. auranitaca.Agoseris aurantiaca var. purpurea (A.Gray) Cronquist det Q. Jones, 1953
