Description
Fruit edible. "Datile." [A note written by G. Engelmann, 1873, attached to this NY sheet: This fruit-bearing fragment is glabrous and bears the immature fruit erect on a short, stout, peduncle, therefore probably not a pulpy fruit, which are always pendulous. Schott's plant bears "datile"- edible fruits. My own specimen received from Schott, resembles this branch, is also smooth, but has no fruit.]. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
