Habitat
Second growth from tropical evergreen forest, surrounded by fields for rice, etc. With Cecropia, Ochroma pyramidata, Gynerium sagittatum.

Description
Shrub 3 m tall. Spikes arching. Plant somewhat different in aspect from ones on the plains and savannas to the south and east of here. Leaves more scabrous, thinner, and slightly different in shape, the plant not as yellow-green.
