Description
Pileus 4-5.5 cm broad covered with purpulish brown squamules, slightly darker on the small umbo, turning reddish brown where injured; gills whitish, of several ranks, becoming reddish brown where injured; stipe up to 6 cm long x 3 mm wide near apex, expanding downward to ca 5 mm, reddish brown streaked below evanescent annulus with purplish brown squamules on expanded base, solid; gills free; growing with stipes joined at base; tip of stipe & flesh blood red when cut. Portion of annulus remaining, lower half densely squamulose with reddish brown (almost purple) squamules. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
