N of Buena Vista, N end of Laguna Madrejon ["Laguna Candelaria" on topographic map]. Grazed savanna woodland on coarse sandy soil, Hexastylis boliviana, Protium heptaphyllum, Vismia, melastomes. 17°23'S, 63°40'W. alt. 295 m. Gnarled shrub 4 m.tall, 15 cm. in diameter; bark gray.
