  • Habitat

    High banks around the settlement, disturbed vegetation, this species typical of and abundant in abandoned "chacos" cleared from non-inundated evergreen forest and also around houseyards, less common as a roadside weed in second growth areas, sporadic and poorly developed on the naturally disturbed clay bluffs of the river.

  • Description

    Shrubs to 3 m. tall. Pubescence like others of this species coll. this year along Rio Madre de Dios, pale tan or yellowish green. Corolla dark purple, fading to light blue; anthers yellow; flowers visited by black and yellow bumble-bee (1 hour before sunset) which buzz the anther cone, also bumble-bees early in morning, only visiting the deep purple (i.e. smaller) recently opened flowers.
