Location
Brazil. Rondônia. Guajará-Mirim Mun. 5 km. NE of Guajara Mirim. Rocky tops and slopes of westernmost hill of Serra Pacaas Novos (with Embratel antennas).

Habitat
Only along edge of road. Scattered short to medium trees, mostly grassy, disturbed and burned, appearing natural campo, but artificially maintained from scrubby forest, most of the species seem native to the hill. Rare. On pre-Cambrian sandstone.

Description
Shrub 2.5 m. tall, does not seem part of native or disturbed vegetation. Corolla blue-purple. Fruit green, hanging; calyx strongly swollen at base. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.

Rare, but fairly common in region and with growth form of S. crinitum Lam. which also grows here, not a tree former, in pastures and roadsides in flatter, tall forest areas
