Steep slopes with semi-deciduous, subtropical forest; easternmost foothills of the Andes. with Anadenanthera macrocarpa, Vitex pseudolea.

Description
In understory of forest on terrace above stream, with stems to 30 cm. tall. Only a small percentage of plants with inflorescences in fruit; rachises bright orange; fruit bright orange, then black.
