  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of Igarapé Camatiá in município São Paulo de Olivença, Amazonas. Referred to GetAMap.net website for location information for Igarapé Camatiá (http://www.getamap.net/maps/brazil/amazonas/_camatia_igarape/). Using the reference map and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Igarapé Camatiá, a tributary of Rio Jandiatuba (tributary of Rio Solimões). Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the mouth (at confluence of Rio Jandiatuba and Igarapé Camatiá) and the source of the stream (approximated through the dense forest cover), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of Igarapé Camatiá. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the geographic midpoint of the stream, on the adjacent shore. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Igarapé Camatiá, 10705.7 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
