Restinga by the sea, with strand vegetation progressively developing into scrub and low forest further inland.

Description
Low subshrubwith erect to trailing stems to ca. 20 cm with spongy bark below. Leaves and stems viscid. Leaves mid-green above, pale beneath, often reddish-tinged, and folded about the midrib. Corolla magenta. Stamens magenta with white anther appendages. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
