    Tylopilus bulbosus Halling & G.M.Muell.

  • Collector(s)

    R. E. Halling 7136, 06 Nov 1993

  • Location

Costa Rica. San José. Dota (Canton). San Gerardo. ±5 km SW of Cerro de la Muerte, Albergue de Montaña, Savegre.

  • Habitat

Montane cloud forest. Quercus seemannii, Q. copeyenisis. Gregarious. On soil.

  • Description

This is very clavate, tall form, unlike the shorter form I've seen in Gainesville. The previous sentence was written when I thought this was close to T. plumbeoviolaceus. Later collections of this taxon from San Gerardo (see my notes) indicate this is not T. plumbeo.
