United States of America. Idaho. Fremont Co. Eastern end of Centennial Mountains, Targhee National Forest. Steep north face of E ridge of Mt. Jefferson ca. 1/2 mile E of summit, just below ridgecrest.

Habitat
With Poa sandbergii (secunda), Anemone multifida tetonensis, Ranunculus eschscholtzii, Phlox pulvinata and Lloydia serotina. Common. Soil shallow, rocky, derived from limestone.

Description
Low shrub not more than 1.5 dm tall, forming large and loose mats. Leaves variable, some glab. beneath, some hairy beneath; scales variable in color and pubescence; styles variable in length. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
