Georeferenced to 25 km along BR 101 (Road Itabuna - Buerarema) from the approximate center of the city of Itabuna towards the town of Buerarema, in Mun. Itabuna, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the city of Itabuna, the town of Buerarema, and the road that most clearly and directly links the two places, BR 101. Verified that the geographical course of this strech of road BR 101 has not changed at least since 1977 using a paper map of the area (Superintendência do Desenvolvimento do Nordeste. "Itabuna" [Map]. Mapas da Região Nordeste do Brasil – 1:100,000. Convênio SUDENE – Governo do Estado da Bahia. SUDENE, Recife, PE, Brasil. 1977), although it is still possible that changes were made between the making of the map in 1977 and the date of collection in 1965. Beginning at the point along BR 101 closest to the approximate geographic center of the city of Itabuna (-14.7899867 -39.2905426), used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 25 km (25.0000 km) along BR 101 S towards Buerarema. Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs found coordinates (final) for the offset. Using Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again, found the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, the city of Itabuna, by measuring from the chosen starting coordinates alongside BR 101 near the center of the city to the farthest extent of the city (-14.8238842 -39.3119574). Input coordinates, linear extent (4.42977 km), distance precision (1 km), and measurement error (0.0005 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset along a path).
