Primary forest on parts of terra firme where Guadua sarcocarpa is beginning to dominate, approx. 11 years after dieback. Occasional.

shrub. Little-branched shrub to 2 m, calyx purple, immature fruits globose. Near trail on mild slopes. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
