Could not find the exact location of the place identified as "Marium" in this locality description using traditional gazetteers; however, inferred from the locality descriptions for other sites in the vicinity that "Marium" most likely refers to "Fazenda Maruim", which is repeatedly stated to be located nearby the remote town of Vila Brasil, in Bahia. Therefore, georeferenced to 8.5 km (average distance specified in locality description) along the primary unnamed dirt-road which departs from the SW corner of the town of Olivença in the southwest direction towards the village of Vila Brasil (Mun. Una), in Mun. Ilhéus, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Search Engine, located the general location of the city of Olivença, then using Google Maps - Satellite View, found the nearby town referenced as Olivença in Wikimapia. Repeated the same exact procedure to locate the town of Vila Brasil. Beginning at the approximate geographic center of the town of Olivença (-14.9482471, -39.0107292), used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 8.5 km (8500.03 m) along the primary dirt road which departs from Olivença heading southwest towards Vila Brasil, carefully avoiding several turnoffs to smaller, Fazenda roads. Used Canadensys Lat/Long crosshairs to find the coordinates for this offset along the road. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent of the starting point of the offset, the city of Olivença, by measuring from the geographic center of the city to the farthest extent of the city. Input coordinates, linear extent (2476.42), measurement error (0.01 m), and distance precision (100 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset along a path).
