    United States of America. Oregon. Klamath Co. 1.5 miles west of Klamath Falls.

  • Habitat

    On a hill at the edge of Pinus ponderosa, Pseudotsuga mucronata wood. Soil very dry at this time, all the annuals gone, the perennials rapidly drying down. Juniperus scopulorm (?), Chrysothamnus nauseousus, Artemisia tridentata, and two species of Eriogonum nearby. Growing in heavy red adobe clay between outcroppings of lava rock.

  • Description

    The herbage of this is decidely red-purple due to drought, a few green leaves remain. Plants 2 -3.5 dm high, with 2 - 35 flower-stalks. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
