    Annotation by A. C. Smith, 1934: "Krukoff 4754 strongly resembles Ule 5631 (phot.), type of Ch. polyanthum, but lacks the close tomentum of lower leaf surfaces. I take these to be very old leaves from a fruiting specimen, from which the tomentum has been lost. The leaves of KS. 28665 (det. this species by Diels) have a similarly sparse pubescence. Leaves in the species appear to vary in width and in being 5- or 7-plinerved. This determination cannot be made certainly without flowers.
