Description
Pileus 4-8 cm broad, convex to plane, viscid to glutinous, soon dry, dark brown (8F8) and slightly paler toward margin when young, remaining dark on the disc, but paler colors (8C-D8-7 series) more prevalent toward margin, finely appressed fibrillose under gluten. Flesh white, unchanging, up to 1 cm thick, with mild odor and taste. Lamellae adnexed, close, up to 1 cm broad at maturity, lilac when young when covered with cortina, soon developing cinnamon tints with spore maturation. Cortina glutinous, pale lilac intergrading with pale lilac to white on stipe. Stipe 2-8 cm long, 1.5-2 cm broad, ±equal with a slight downward taper toward base, glutinous, soon dry, white to pale lilac above, with cortinate zone above, shiny silky fibrillose and white below when dried out; interior white, unchanging, becoming hollow with age.
