Habitat
Primary rainforest disturbed by seringueiro activity. Canopy fairly high, open. Tree abundant in local area. Dry, sandy soil.

Description
treelet. Tree 3m x 4.5 cm dbh. Flowers borne on adventitious root-like process arising on the trunk and growing down into and across forest floor beneath litter. Flowers borne beneath litter. All perianth whorl purple, outermost somewhat brown; fruits yellow orange, also borne beneath litter on forest floor. The flower bearing "rhizoids" may be up to 4 m long. Wood with a pungent myristicacious smell, somewhat like coriander seeds. Wood sample taken Flowers in alcohol S. R. Lowrie took photographs if the flowers, fruits and roots.
