Habitat
Varzea forest on left side of river. Seasonally innundated from January to March.

Description
Trees ca. 5-6 m tall, main stem leaning on nearby trees. Bark smooth, minutely fissurate, whitish. Leaves thickly papyraceous, dark green above, pale green below. Fruits immature, green, 7-15 cm dia. Leaves up to 90 cm long and 45 cm wide. Medulla carved up and inhabited by tiny black ants. Female individuals. Fruits in alcohol. Common name: Purui.
