Collection Notes
"In 1851, Charles Wright was collecting on the US-Mexico survey "on the Sonoita (on holotype label), which is now in Santa Cruz County, Arizona (31°N40'28"N 110°39'21"W, 1504 m elevation). Sonoita Creek flows from Sonoita, Arizona west to the Santa Cruz River north of Nogales. Sonoita was added to Arizona by the Gadsen Purchase in 1853. The other Sonoyta (same sound, but usually spelled differently today), Sonora is in the Sonoran Desert south of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument." [Pers. comm. from Tom Van Devender, 24 May 2013]
