• Georeferencing Method

  Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to a point along the shore of the lake on the gournds of the Comissão Executiva do Plano da Lavoura Cacaueira (CEPLAC/CEPEC) compound, closest to the approximate geographic center of the lake, in Mun. Ilhéus, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View and Distance Measurement Tool, located the CEPLAC/CEPEC complex by measuring 22 km along road 415 from the approximate geographic center of the city of Ilhéus towards the city of Itabuna. Verified the location of the complex using Wikimapia, and Google Maps -Street View. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, again, located the Lake on the grounds of the complex (approximately 225 m ENE from the entrance). Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs, found the coordinates of a point along the shore of the lake closest to the approximate geographic center of the Lake. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the forested area that surrounds the lake and is within the boundaries of the grid-like roads which appear to define the borders of this quadrant (inferred to be "quadrant A") of the CEPLAC/CEPEC compound. Input coordinates, linear extent (277.661 m), and measurement error (0.001) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Bounded Area).
