Exsiccati label reads "Everhartia cinerea, Ell. n.g. & n.s., Bull. Torr. Bot. Club, vol. ix." There is no mention of Everhartia in volume 9 of Bull. Torr. Bot. Club., and the genus was published in Michelia 2(no. 8): 580 (1882) with the type species as Everhartia hymenuloides. Everhartia cinerea seems to be ined.
