Narrow riparian. In Wyoming big sagebrush zone; common with Bromus inermis, Rosa woodsii, Salix exigua, Clematis ligusticifolia and Cornus stolonifera. Common. Rocky, volcanic soil; seedlings in wet sand of streamside.
