In forest with Pinus strobus, Acer rubrum, Quercus rubra, Fagus grandifolia. Common.

Description
Tree 18 m. tall, 45 cm. in diameter; bark dark brown, furrowed, hard; cones green, closed, ca. full size; leaves green above with glaucous zone on either side of midrib beneath. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
