Woody vine climbing to 10 m. from ground into Pinus
strobus in planted windbreak of P. strobus and P. resinosa
between Button Cemetery and fann field, flat, somewhat
sandy soil. Stem 7.5 cm. in diameter, 16 years old, tightly
held to tree trunk by adventitious roots, but older stem not
producing new adventitious roots; sap milky when stem
first cut but soon turning inky black and hardening. Leaves
and inflorescences from much more slender horizontal
branches to 4 m. long. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw,
w, Dw, MEXUw, RSAw, wood specimen from the
climbing stem. In full flower; flowers yellow-green.
