"Subalpine" (edaphicl) steppe grassland with rock outcrops and bare loose gravelly soil between tussocks of the dominant Festuca sp., Poa dahurica, with Thymus serpyllum, Arenaria, Selaginella, Astragalus, Saxifraga bronchialis, Dianthus versicolor , and many lichens.
