Ipomoea cairica (L.) Sweet

Ipomoea palmata Forsk. FI. Aegypt. Arab. 43. 1775.
Hill ebrand calls this Ipomoea tuberculata var. trichosperma
but does not state whether it is his (own creation, or if he .has
reduced Ipomoea trichosperma Blume, to a variety. Horace
Mann, who was a very acutb botanist, determined it‘as J pal-
mata. Commdn on the, hot; dry, lower slopes, trailing over
Lava rocks and bushes.' It is, somewhat variable in leaf form
The flowers are pale red, or pinkish.
