Karol 01 May 2023 PLANTS OF RICE COUNTY, MINNESOTA, U.S.A. Chara braunii C.C. Gmel. NE1/4 of SE1/4 Sec. 28 T110N R22W 44.30376 -93.46403 5.5 miles east of Kilkenny. Growing near the eastern shoreline of Caron Lake (ID 66005000), a 320 acre shallow, eutrophic basin situated in hummocky terrain. Water turbid and brown-green in color; filamentous algae common on submerged vegetation. Individuals occasional at site, but observed growing abundantly in a few areas on eastern side. Growing on shallow delta flats of sand-silt where Devil Creek inlets into basin. Water depth: 15 centimeters. Full sun. Associates include Zannichellia palustris, Najas flexilis, Ceratophyllum demersum, Lemna trisulca, Potamogeton crispus, Stuckenia pectinata, Typha sp., Nymphaea odorata, Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani, Spirodela polyrrhiza.
