3 miles southwest of Andover. Growing near the northwestern shoreline of Crooked
Lake (ID 02008400), a 115 acre eutrophic basin situated in fairly level terrain in the
Anoka Sand Plain Ecological Subsection. High shoreline development; many homes
with lawns mowed to the water's edge. Water clarity fair; slightly green.
Filamentous algae present. Individuals locally abundant, forming rolling monotypic
stands that carpet the bottom; some reach a height of a few centimeters below the
surface in 0.8 meters of depth. Individuals have a slight dull brown cast on tops near
surface. Common lakewide in nearshore. Associates: Potamogeton illinoensis,
Nymphaea odorata. In sand-silt. Elevation: 262 m.
