THE NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN Plants of Ghana No. 101 BIGNONIACEAE Kjgelia africana GHANA. Ashanti: Sekyere. Bobiri Forest Reserve. 6°38>N, 1°17’W. Moist semi-deciduous forest with many lianas. Humus of topsoil up to 20cm deep. Avg.of 1500mm/y rain. Small tree, 15m tall. Bole crooked, round. Bark smooth, fibrous, shiny, gray. Slash creamy-orange to gray-green, darkens through shades of green. Long pinnate leaves. Leaflets elliptic, acuminate, base cuneate, margin entire to crenate or serrate; glandular; glabrous.
