In kloof forest along river, on gentle slope in partial shade. In rocky soil of
sandstone clay and in running water along river bank. Grassland with Kiggelana
africana, Buddleja salviifolia, Rhamnus prinoides and Myrsine africana. Native
and occasional.
Perennial graminoid bamboo, 3-4 m high, culms hollow with solid nodes.
Leaves with stem clasping sheaths, alternate, simple, glabrous, lamina narrowly
ovate, 6-8 x 7-10 mm. No flowers. This species flowers once in every 40 years.
