Open xeric vegetation of scattered small trees. Of Ficus, Cantua, Myrsine, Cecropia, and Lauraceae, Bombacaceae, Clusiaceae, and Myrtaceae.

Shrub to 1 m tall. Mature pods brown with one, flesh-colored seed within. Abundant along roadside in open, sunny sites. [Plants pretreated with EtOH.].
