sand gravelly soil aiding wooded banks of a fiver at 800 feet;
Stem terete, 1 inch thick 6 feet high, crooked branched
from near the base; wood qaite hard, white, odorless and
tasteless; bark smooth , grayish white, bra no he s numerous,
laxly rebranched, green and conspicuously nodose, subereot;
leaves flat, ascending or horizontal, thinly coriaceous, much
lifter green beneath; bracts with calyx green, corolla ascend-
ing and pale violaceus and purplish spotted in the throat;
