ed above the middle; brancftlets on the main branches numerous
toward the apex, thickened and more or less flattened at the
base, usually recurved near the base of attachment; bark smooth,
ish motfled; leaves ascending, spreading, súbcoriaceous, glau-
cous green. beneath, dark green above; infruteecenoe terminal,«
the pedaneles and pedicels pale white; fruits nearly globose,
pale green and spotted but turning dark purplish red when fully
mature sad rather dry (not Juiey); in clayey fertile soil of
dense Shrubberies in damp limestone basins of the pine region
