FLORA OF TANZANIA Lis Ellemann Boraginaceae Cordia ovalis R. Br. ARUSHA. Ngorongoro Conservation Area, 15 km Northwest of Endulen village in savanna grassland along dry riverine dominated by Acacis tortilis, classified as lowland "olpurker by the Maasai. Information given by Lepilal Ole Nakuroi and Peter Metele, warriors ea. (35° IT E 3° 7 S). Alt. 1700 m. Apr 27, 1993 Shrub, flowers orange. Maasai name: eseki (small), oseki (big), engululu (fruit) Wood used for uprights in huts. Hooks used to for hanging beehives in trees. Glowing end of stick is used to clean and dry the milk-calabash. Fruits are eaten. Oloirago ole Mayanga: used for uprights for the wall of huts, but is not as good as "alawou" and "ositeti" as it doesn’t resist insects and only last 2-1 years.
