On coastal flats, damp soil, sand of tertiary sandbeds. On roadside, occasional.
Native. Coastal dune forest, with T acazzea, Pavetta, Acacia karoo, Conyza, *
Brachylaena, Ipomoea spp., Sycamone, Cyperus.
Annual herb, 1.2 - 1.5 m high- Leaves simple, alternate, leaves covered in short,
soft hair, linear, lanceolate, 50-100 x 5-10 mm, leaf margins saggitate.
Capitulums in terminal clusters, cluster 3 mm in diam. Disc florets faded purple
to white, ray florets absent.
