Plain foil sun. Well-drained aeolian sand of quartzite. Native and common,
grazed by game Thorny savanna with Acacia erioloba, A. melífera, Schmidtia,
Grewia flava, Eragrostis lehmanniana and Aristida spp..
Perennial herb I m high, main stem with lateral branches, taproot of20-30 cm
long. Sessile leaves alternate, simple, glabrous, elliptic to narrowly elongate 40-
50 x7-10 mm, leaf margins entire to saggitate. Capitulum with purple, tubular
disc florets, ray florets absent
