River floodplain, full sun, in seasonally waterlogged soil of shale black turf.
Exotic and common. Forest with Cynodon, Argemone, Lepiduim.
Annual herb iff im high. Leaves simple, hairy, alternate, silvery grey-green,
very spiny, margins dentate. Stipular spines and prickles present. Inflorescence a
capitulum with purplish-blue florets. Fruit an achene.
