Coastal forest, in valley, full sun, well-drained soil of granitic loam. Common.
Margin of thicket.
Perennial herb, up to lm high, stem with white latex. Leaves sessile, simple,
alternate, 150x50mm, rough above, white cobweb-like beneath, lobed, margins
deeply dentate, teeth spine tipped. Inflorescence a capitulum,with yellow ray
and disc florets, capitulum 40-60mm in diam..
