Light secondary forest with Celtis and Sterculiaceae• Large liana at least 60 m long and 30 m high clim- bing; trunk prickly, 12 cm diam.; bark pale brown; leaves coriaceous, not much shining; fruit large, subglobose, laterally compressed, 10-13 cm diam., mature dark green shining, with wall 4-5 mm thick; in rotten fruits many partly rotten seedlings of which some may survive and find a hole through the fruit wall. Fruit used as mortar for cucumber and peanuts. Vern.name: "Kpag"(Beten) Calyx pale green. Seedling Det.: A.J#M* Leeuwenberg, 1965 /in spirit in WAG 04999386
