Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Amônia (synonymous with Rio Amônea) within the Reserva Extrativista do Alto Juruá area in Marechal Thaumaturgo, Acre. Referred to "A Reserva Extrativista" on the Vozes Da Floresta website for location information for Reserva Extrativista do Alto Juruá (http://vozesdafloresta.wordpress.com/a-reserva-extrativista/). Using the reference material and Google Map - Earth View, located the stretch of Rio Amônia within the area of the reserve. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the mouth of the river and the furthest extent of the river within the reserve then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Rio Amônia nearest to the midpoint of the line; used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic midpoint of this segment of river, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment of river. Input coordinates, linear extent (17560.0 m), and measurement error (5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
