Meghalaya:	Nayabanglo,	ca	28 km from
Shillong along road to Gauhati,
Khasi Hills.
On steep creekbank ca 50 cm above present
water level, flooded after heavy rain;
alt. ca 2700 feet.

Tree ca 4 m tall, 10 cm diam. Leaves
deep green above, rusty brown below.
Inflorescences with the leaves and
along branches up to ca 4 cm diam.
Peduncle, pedicel pale to mid green.
Sepals mid green in young bud to
whitish green in flower. Corolla pale
pink towards margin, whitish pink at base.
Filaments pinkish white, anthers orange-
yellow. Ovary pale green, styles white;
fruiting ovary bright red.
Local name:	Ding-pyat	(Khasi).
