This garden was created to provide a brief look at the history of the African experience in the Caribbean through the lens of plants, consisting of 8 sections and beds: In the Cane, Roots, Stewpot, Flavor, Creativity, Abundance, Remedies, and Transformation. Curated by Jessica B. Harris, implemented and cared for by James Boyer, Brooke Gibbard, Toby Adams, Mellon Humanities Food Ways Interns, and NYBG Horticulture staff. The African American Garden was made possible with support from the Mellon Foundation.
