Hardly disturbed primary forest up to 35
m high. Terrain somewhat sloping, deep
clayey volcanic soil.
Tree 20 m high. Clear bole 13m, 25 cm
dbh, without buttresses. Outer bark 0.2-
0 5 ran thick, grey, rather fissured, not
peeling off. Inner bark 1.5 ran thick,
cream-coloured, without exudate.
Fl cream-coloured. Fr. mature, dark
purple, seed 1, with thick, sweet edible
sarcotesta.
Fruits are collected in the forest and
sold on the market for consumption.
