In peat marsh, full sun, in moist humus-rich loam of recent sands. Native and
common. Coastal grassland.
Perennial herb of lm high. Petioles short, leaves simple opposite, palmately
veined, 3-5 main veins. Leaves velvety whitish beneath. Inflorescence a raceme.
Flowers are brilliantly magenta 30mm in diam..
