East Hampton Town, hamlet of Montauk, Montauk State Park, south shore of Oyster Pond (a coastal salt pond) on crest of o.6m embankment. (41.07046N 071.89210W). Perennial graminoid; tallest plant 42 cm; bases red; roots fragrant; rhizomes white. In association with Morelia pensylvanica Baccharis halimifolia, Lonicera morrowii, Hibiscus moscheutos and Ligustrum sp. *Note-first time observing this species in Montauk, very rare. V.
