Perennial graminoid; tallest plant 42 cm; bases red; roots fragrant;
rhizomes white. In association with Morelia pensylvanica
Baccharis halimifolia, Lonicera morrowii, Hibiscus moscheutos
and Ligustrum sp.
*Note-first time observing this species in Montauk, very rare.
