Field Char: Large canopy tree, buttressed; outer
bark pale brown, not fissured; inner bark pink;
wood very dense, stramineous; leaves dry &
brittle, dull green on both sides; drupes
ovoid, epicarp dull green*
Notes: The cooked seeds are edible. Several bird
species (wainwanga) also seek the fruit as a
food source.
Locality: East Sepik Province, Waskuk Hills,
along the foot track between Garuka and
Ambunti, in Glei Clan territory*
Habitat: Alluvial forest.
